Inclement Weather

ElderStudy observes the UMW campus advisories. If the campus is closed due to weather conditions, any scheduled ElderStudy sessions in the classroom for that day will not be held, but on-line sessions will occur. In the case of delayed openings, ElderStudy observes the schedule set by the University. The website Fredericksburg.com, local radio stations, and the UMW hotline (540–654–2424) can provide information on campus closings.

Even if the University is open, an ElderStudy session may still be cancelled.  The presenter may have difficulty traveling, or ElderStudy leadership may decide that conditions warrant a cancellation.

Cancellation Notifications

When it is necessary to cancel a session on short notice, ElderStudy will make every effort to notify the membership, usually by email or text message.  Members who have no email or text capability are notified by Membership Committee volunteers via telephone when circumstances permit.
